A few years ago I saw HellBoy. I really didn’t understand the film. It opened with Nazis and no background ala Superman IV. But no worries, Hell boy II makes up for that with a teenage hell boy in 1955. He likes Howdy doody and his adopted father woos him with a tale to rival “Lord of the Rings, I Robot, Star Wars” all rolled into one. Premise even someone from hell can be scared at night.

Act 1 Scene 1 finds us in New York with an expensive auction of ancient antiquities. A very special uninvited guest wants a special gold piece. This person from hell or dwarf land is not there to buy. He is there to steal. He releases another child’s nightmare tooth fairies Trust me these fairies are not here to collect teeth no money under the pillow is to be found. An alarm ensues and Hell Boy and company are dispatched to end this nemesis.

Act 2 Scene 1 Hell Boy has found the fame he seeks, and we find a “Lord of the Rings” theme here, royalty, heirs and of course a quest to find trolls under a bridge. Here the movie slows, but as in all good sequels a mysterious German is introduced( Seth MacFarlane). He is now the head of this non secret organization.

By Act 3 Hell Boy figures out he saves humans and destroys those who hate them. He also is in love with Selmar Blair ( Liz). Ultimately he will destroy earth but you will have to wait until episode five for that bit of sequelitis. But with a Cuban cigar, a good gun and of course the love of his life( Liz) he takes on all and makes a quest into the belly of a stone to determine the fate of mankind.

Act 2 and Act three are really good. I highly recommend this movie for it has a great story, plot and the animation, CGI and acting make this a classic action picture for the next decade.

9.5
smoke stacks and GREAT CONGRATS TO SOUTHFIELD, MI NATIVE SELMAR BLAIR, you go girl, go all the way to the top.
